Funeral Services at First United Methodist Church, Temple, OK, Thursday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Kent Simpson officiating. Burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial contributions can be made to the Temple Alumni Association, P.O. Box 298, Temple, OK 73568.

Alsie Louise (Stephens) Gower was born to James Orville and Edna (Wilson) Stephens on February 17, 1929 east of Randlett, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on June 23, 2018 at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Louise grew up in the Taylor Community of southern Cotton County, graduating from Temple High School in 1947. She married Thad Gower on December 24, 1947 at Temple. They made their home in Temple and then the Gower home place before building their current home in 1965. She worked as secretary to the school superintendent for school year 1948 and then embraced the roll of housewife, proudly raising her kids and helping with the grandkids. She enjoyed dancing, making trips to Branson and traveling in general.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thad in 2004; 3 sons, an infant son Houston Stephen Gower, Clint Gower and Craig Gower; a great grandson, Clinton Thad Gower; and her sister, Melba Ruth Gardner.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee Gower of Dallas, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, Cletus and Jeanne Gower of Temple; a daughter-in-law, Marina Gower of Norman; 6 grandchildren, DeDe Baze, Stephanie Kelly, Chad Kelly, Kandi Clark and husband Gary, Dustin Gower, Josh Gower and wife Shelbie; 9 great grandchildren, Shelby and husband Brendon, Kyle and wife Audelia, Ethan, Landri, Payton, Bradean, Addisyn, Jacilyn, and Allison; 6 great-great grandchildren, Brylie, Lucas, Bristol, Brynlee, Owen and Alaina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
