Travis Franklin Kinder was born to Corinne Elizabeth “Trixie” (Uzzell) and James William Kinder Sr. on May 16, 1939 in Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Lawton, OK on June 6, 2018 at the age of 79 years and 21 days.

Travis grew up at Cookietown, OK and graduated from Union Valley School in 1957. He married Janice Bessemer on December 19, 1959 at Chattanooga, OK and to the union 4 children were born. Early on the family lived in Frederick where Travis worked for Brantly Helicopter, blowing the bubble windshield. With that plant moving to Texas the Kinders also moved to Lawton where he ran a mobile feed grinding business. In 1965 they moved to a farm west of Geronimo where Travis was engaged in farming and started a custom harvest business. The family moved to the current home in 1973.

On July 27, 1992 he married Sondra (Griffin) Adams at Burkburnett, TX. They enjoyed each other’s company for 22 years before she preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded by his parents, Jim and Trixie; 2 brothers, Carl Kinder and Jimmy Kinder; and an infant son, Derek Wayne Kinder.

Travis was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and going on wheat harvest and loved drinking chocolate milk.  

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Wes and Cheryl Kinder of Chattanooga, OK, Russell and Erika Kinder of Austin, TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Clint Blevins of Chattanooga; 6 grandchildren and spouses, Jared Kinder and Shantel of Hesston, KS, Kindra Johnson and Cory of Chattanooga, Kaitlyn Blevins of Lawton, Jennifer Crew and Tyler of Geronimo, Rafe Kinder and Mitch Kinder both of Austin, TX;  5 great grandchildren, Jaxon, Layla, Clayton, Easton, Xander and one on the way, Kaseton; 2 brothers and wives, Gary “Butch” Kinder and Donna of Kearney, NE, Jarvis Kinder and Phyllis of Walters; Sondra’s beloved family, daughter Darla Adams and husband Jerrell of Midlothian, TX; and grandchildren, Jesse Todd Adams and Clayton Dale Adams, Krista Elizabeth Cox and husband Ryan, and Grant Parker Adams; and great grandchild, Camden; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
