It is with great sadness the family of Kevin Ira Varner announce his passing after a sudden illness on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the age of 39 years. Kevin was born July 31, 1978, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Kevin graduated from Walters High School in 1996, received his Bachelor’s degree from Cameron University with a major in Animal Science and minor in Chemistry in 2000. Kevin worked for Excel Meat Packers Plainview, Texas, OSU Extension in Cleveland and Stephens Counties as an 4-H Educator, the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, as well as a farmer and rancher.
Kevin loved showing good sheep, riding reining horses, turkey and deer hunting, and working with kids. Kevin’s most favorite season was during wheat harvest running the combines and trucks.
Kevin is survived by his parents Patton and Pamela Varner of Walters, brother Keegan Varner and wife Lindsey of Tishomingo, grandparents Ira and Roberta Kennedy of Geronimo and Gail and Sylvia Varner of Walters, Aunt Joleyne Temple and husband David of Pauls Valley, Aunt Ann Taylor and husband Terry of Chandler, nephew Kohen Varner, niece Kennedy Varner, and cousin Seth Temple and fiancé Spencer Phillips of Elmore City, as well as many other extended family and friends.
Services are scheduled for 3pm Friday, June 8th, at the Cotton County Expo Center in Walters, Oklahoma. Memorials or donations can be made to Cotton County 4-H Foundation, 301 N. Broadway, Walters, OK 73572, in Kevin Ira’s honor.
