Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Pastors Gary Thurman & Jack Jacob officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters with interment in the Walters Cemetery. The Family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist on Friday prior to the service.

Gregory Taylor Burnaugh was born in Walters, OK on November 15th, 1951 to Wayne Edwin Burnaugh and Ruby Mae Sutton Burnaugh. He left this life to join his Heavenly Father on May 25th, 2018 in Lawton, OK at the age of 66.

Greg grew up in Walters and attended Walters Public Schools, graduating from Walters High School in 1970. He attended Cameron University for a short time before returning to Walters to work the family farm alongside his dad.

Greg started his career as a farmer. He began working for the US Postal Service part-time as a rural mail carrier, and ultimately went to work for the US Postal Service full-time. He loved his role and the 42 years he spent serving the community of Walters until his retirement in 2015.

Greg was an active member of First Baptist Church of Walters, OK, where he taught a boy’s Sunday school class and sang in the choir for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shared his love of the outdoors with anyone who wanted to go. He loved sports, enjoyed OU football and Thunder basketball most of all, and loved to cheer on his Walters Blue Devils. He could often be found with family or friends cutting up and keeping everyone entertained with his sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Mae Sutton Burnaugh; his step-mother, Margaret Lorene “Bobbie” Haskin Burnaugh; and his step-mother Hattie Simpson Burnaugh.

He is survived by his father, Wayne Edwin Burnaugh of Duncan OK; his daughter and son-in-law, Krisa Mae Bryant and Michael Bryant of Edmond, OK; four granddaughters, Caitlin, Isabel, Ava, and Sutton Bryant; step-brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Vicki Simpson of Edmond, OK; and step-sister, Tammy Graham of Duncan, OK; many extended family members and beloved friends.
