Christine Martin

Christine Elizabeth (Eslick) Martin was born to Austin Charles and Minnie Violet (Sutton) Eslick on February 18, 1943 in Lugert, OK and departed this life in Denison, TX on March 15, 2018 at the age of 75 years and 25 days.

Christine grew up at Duncan, OK. She married Durward Don Martin on January 25, 1964 at Waurika, Oklahoma and to the union 3 children were born. Christine had attended Vernon Regional School, and had completed police academy and jailor school, as she was a certified police officer and dispatcher for the City of Iowa park. She retired a peace officer for the city. She also worked in the mess hall and did grounds maintenance for Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for a few years. The couple made their home in Iowa Park, TX for 30 plus years before retiring to the lake, living in the Sadler, TX area.

She loved hunting and fishing. She was an excellent marksman and outshot all the other officers every year. She would always miss a shot on purpose to keep from being classified as a sniper.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Charlene (Eslick) Johnson; her brother, Donald Eugene Eslick; 2 sisters-in-law, DeeDee Goodner and Betty Solomon; 2 nephews, Lloyd Parkey and Garret Eslick; and a niece, Sherry Hughes.

Survivors include her husband, Durward Don Martin of Sadler, TX; 3 children, her daughter Elizabeth Lambert and husband Joshua of Devol, OK, her son Don Ray Martin and wife Charla of Iowa Park, TX, and her daughter, Donna Kay Merritt and husband Rodger of Dickinson, TX; her brother, Charles Eslick and wife Teresa of Dumas, TX; 5 grandchildren, Austin Merritt and wife Courtney of Baytown, TX, Josh Martin and wife Randi of Dean, TX, Jacob Martin and wife Jessica of Wichita Falls, TX, Justice Martin of Iowa Park and Kelsey Merritt of Dickinson; nieces and nephews, Billy and Lucretia Parkey, Floyd and Kim Parkey, Dale and Debbie Eslick, Denise Eslick, Ashley Eslick, Pamela and Stewart Miller, Johnny and Pam Cook, Cheryl and Richard Wright, and Monty Castro; other relatives and a host of friends.
