Larry Frank “PeeWee” Hathaway was born to Oren Lester “Buck” and Hazel Katherine (McGee) Hathaway on December 6, 1945 at Frederick, OK and departed this life on January 14, 2018 at Wichita Falls, TX at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 8 days.
PeeWee grew up at Walters, OK and served his country honorably with the Oklahoma National Guard. He married Linda Ruth Bridges on November 17, 1965 at Walters and to the union 2 children, Lisa and Larry Don, were born. PeeWee learned to weld working with Ted Southward and then was employed at Lawrence Tank before owning his own welding shop for a time. He then went to work for Brown & Root helping build the Goodyear plant that he spent the next 30 years working as a maintenance tech and was a certified machinist and welder until his retirement in 2009. Since the early 1990’s he has also operated Hathaways Lawn Service.
He loved his family and enjoyed spending time drag boat racing, drag car racing, trail riding on his Razor, fishing, camping and going to the coffee shop. He also enjoyed serving as flagman for 7 years at the Lawton Speedway and loved watching NASCAR. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Hathaway, and brother and sister, Pete and Susie Hathaway who were twins.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Clay Copeland of Walters; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Don and Errika Hathaway of Walters; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Donna Hathaway of Walters; a sister, Nancy Hathaway Brown of Henrietta, TX; a sister-in-law, Carol Hathaway of Walters; 5 grandchildren, Leslie Lister and husband Brook of Owasso, OK, Chase Copeland and wife Brittany of Gainesville, TX, Austin, Kiarra and Zakery of Walters; a great granddaughter, Jaide Lister of Owasso; many other relatives and friends.
