Funeral Service at Hastings Baptist Church, Hastings, Tuesday, December 5, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Charles McConnell officiating with burial in the Hastings Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3 at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.
Orville Leon Dikes was born to Fred Ellis and Lona Olena (Thompson) Dikes on December 23, 1933 at Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on November 30, 2017 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Orville grew up at Hastings where he was salutatorian of the Class of 1951. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and continued in the Army Reserves until 1962. His service included a stint overseas in Korea following the war. He returned home and began a career with Halliburton in Duncan, OK. On December 29, 1960 he married Mary Lee Standridge at Hastings and to the union a son, David was born.
Orville retired after 30 years with Halliburton. He has enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball on TV and was a fan of sports in general. He was an active member of Hastings Baptist Church for many years and served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford Dikes.
Orville is survived by his son David Dikes of Hastings; 2 sisters, Clytee Burton of Temple, OK and Audine Norman and husband Glenn of Wichita Falls, TX; other relatives and friends.
