Carolyn Murphy

Graveside services at the Walters Cemetery, Wednesday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Mickey Miller officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Carolyn Delene Murphy was born to Ralph DeWayne and Sammie Lee (Glidewell) Thorne on November 13, 1950 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on October 9, 2017 at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 26 days.

Carolyn grew up at Walters, OK, graduating from WHS in 1969. She married Mack Arthur Murphy on November 16, 1968 at FBC, Walters and to the union 4 children were born. They made their home at Walters and Carolyn worked as a bank teller at Walters Bank and Trust, and at First State Bank in Temple.

She enjoyed Reading, attending outdoor concerts, doing cross stitch, painting and spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Walters.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack, on May 16, 2015.

Survivors include her parents, Ralph and Sammie Thorne of Walters; 4 children and their spouses, Jennifer and Tim Roye of Wylie, TX, Regina and Darrin McKay of Walters, Paula and Michael Crossland of Grandfield, OK, and Brian Murphy of San Francisco, CA; 3 siblings, Sherri and Michael Flanagan of Walters, Leslie and Steve Anderson of Lawton, and David Thorne of Walters; 10 grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Roye, Jessica, Michael, William, Katherine “Kate,” and Elizabeth “Emme” McKay, Wyatt, Ava and Madelynn “Maddy” Crossland; other relatives and friends.
