Funeral Service at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Wednesday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Roger Noland officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery.

Ray Gene Wood was born to Patricia Betty Faye (Brewer) and Johnny Edward Wood, I on December 23, 1976 at Idabel, OK and departed this life in Waurika, OK on August 6, 2017 at the age of 40 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Ray grew up in the Broken Bow, OK area where he attended school. He moved to Walters, OK in 1995 and married Renea Christine Gresham. He has called Walters his home but for a time in Comanche, Waurika and Ryan. He worked a number of years at Halliburton in Duncan doing pump assembly. He enjoyed mechanics and woodworking, and was loved by his family and kids.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Johnny E. Wood, I; his mother, Patricia Betty Faye Shomo; his maternal grandparents; and his paternal grandpa.

Survivors include Renea C. Wood of Walters; 3 children, Christopher E. Wood and Charlie D. Bailey both of Walters, Rhylee S. Wood of Duncan, OK; his stepkids, Leigha Denham, Leland Denham and Santana Parkhill of Ryan; a special person in his life, Beth Denham of Ryan, OK; his grandparents, Billie and Graham Corn of Hugo, OK; 2 brothers, Johnny Edward Wood, II of Comanche, OK and Daniel Shomo of Broken Bow, OK; 2 sisters, Brandy Wood Ellison of El Reno, OK and Anna Shomo of Broken Bow; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
