Graveside Service at the Temple, Cemetery, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Masonic Rites under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial Donations can be made to the Cache Valley Lodge 530 or the Comanche Lodge 41.
Billy Don Monroe was born to Henry Lewis and Jewell Francis (Hooper) Monroe on November 19, 1936, 8 miles south of Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on August 2, 2017 at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 13 days.
Bill grew up south of Temple in the Red Store Community. He graduated from Temple High School in 1954 and then attended Oklahoma City University. He soon figured out college wasn’t for him and headed to Midland, Texas for work. There he met a 16 year old, Juanita Faye Woods and the two married on December 18, 1955 at Midland. While there, 22 years of his employment was with Drill Co. as a welder. The couple eventually made their way back to Bill’s home town of Temple and he worked 11 years as a heavy equipment operator for Cotton County District 2, and also did lawn mower repair for several years under the name of Bill’s Lawn Mower.
Bill was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid football fan. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Cache Valley Lodge 530 and the Comanche Lodge 41. He was a 3 time Worshipful Master and had served in every station in the lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Juanita.
Survivors include his son, Lynn Dale Monroe of Wichita Falls, TX; his daughter, Linda Denise Duca and husband, Paul of Tulsa; his brother Gary Lynn Monroe of Denton, TX; 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Marie, Sara Dawn and Billy Wayne Monroe; other relatives and friends.
