Graveside services at the Walters Cemetery on Friday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
William Lester “Bill” Ogletree was born to Howell Clark, Sr. and Lorna Bernice (Pearson) Ogletree on April 4, 1921 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma at the VA Center on June 27, 2017 at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Bill grew up at Walters, graduating from Walters High School. He then entered the United States Army serving his country honorably during WWII. Following the war he stayed active as an MSG with the Oklahoma National Guard through 1951. He had married Arrahwannah Ann Capps at Walters on April 10, 1943, and to the union two sons were born, Ronald Keith and William Lester, Jr.
Bill received a degree from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1952 and went to work as a funeral director and embalmer for Pearson Funeral Home in Walters which his grandad, Ralph Pearson, had owned for many years. Upon the retirement of his uncle, Hop Pearson, he became a managing partner with J.T. Wyatt in the 1960’s. Bill sold out to the Wyatt’s in 1971 and enjoyed many years of fishing in area lakes and creeks. He also enjoyed keeping a well manicured lawn and served many years with the Walters Volunteer Fire Department. Bill has resided at the VA Center in Lawton for a several years where he has enjoyed the staff and accommodations, including fishing in the lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ann on December 23, 2009; his sons, William Lester “Skipper” Ogletree on October 12, 1974 and Ronald Keith Ogletree on June 24, 2005; a brother, Howell Ogletree, Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Ogletree.
Survivors include 2 grandsons, Bryan Keith Ogletree and Julie of Duncan, OK, Gregory Scott Ogletree and Lisa of Plaquemine, LA; daughter-in-law, Jane Ogletree of Walters; 11 great grandchildren, Charli Sharp of Mannford, OK, Quaid Ogletree of Walters, Jill Ogletree and Chase Ogletree of Lindsay, OK, Gage Ogletree and Summer of White Castle, LA, Kinly, Bryson and Sky Ogletree of Plaquemine, LA, Zachary, Jenna and Blaklee Stowers; a great-great grandchild, Aiden Ogletree of White Castle; a sister, Katie Wilkinson of Norman; several nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
