Graveside Services at Fairview Cemetery, Randlett, OK, Monday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m., Rick Beard and Joe Ferguson officiating. Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday the 29th at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Wichita Falls or Fairview Cemetery.
Evelyn M. (Simmons) Davis was born to Frederick Anderson and Mae Kathryn (Burton) Simmons on January 8, 1920, east of Randlett, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on January 27, 2017 at the age of 97 years and 19 days.
Evelyn grew up east of Randlett and attended Bird Creek School through the 8th grade. She graduated from Randlett High School in 1937 and then attended a year at Central State College in Edmond. She married Guy L. Davis in 1940 at Waurika, OK and they made their home southwest of Randlett. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Burkburnett Elevator and then worked for Civil Service at Sheppard AFB for 20 years. Following the death of her husband, Evelyn moved to Wichita Falls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Randlett and enjoyed crocheting and painting.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy, in 1993; her sister, Kathryn Hale; her brother, F.A. Simmons; and was also preceded by a niece, Shirley Lewis.
Survivors include 3 nieces, Barbara Reed of Randlett, OK, Karen Dabney of Devol, OK and Gay Arthur of Chickasha, OK; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of Wichita Falls for the special care provided during Evelyn’s time of need.
