Jay Driskill Officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Don Martin “Pow Pow” Goode was born to Clyde Herman and Virginia Kathleen (Manahan) Goode on March 5, 1954 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on September 3, 2016 at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Don grew up in Walters, graduating in the Class of 1972. He went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War followed by a 42 year career with Civil Service at Ft. Sill. He retired July 31, 2016 as Chief Industrial Hygienist at Reynolds Army Hospital. Through the years he also had owned and operated Don’s Heating and Air.

Don made Walters his home and built his current house east of Walters in 1999. He has enjoyed coaching little league baseball, hunting and fishing, playing poker, gardening and spending time with the grandkids. Together for 10 years, he also enjoyed dancing with Rita Jo, his fiancé as of March 5, 2011. Don has always tried to be involved with Veterans organizations and was a past president of a Ducks Unlimited chapter. He was a member of Cameron Baptist Church, Lawton, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Virginia Goode.

Survivors include a son and daughter, Bryan Goode and wife Ashley, and Stefanie Goode all of Walters; 3 grandchildren, Abree, Harlee and Georgia; his sister, Sondra Salyer of Edmond, OK; nephews, Jeff Sleeker of Lawton, Andy Sleeker of Edmond and Grant Sleeker of Stillwater; his fiancé, Rita Jo Rasco-Smith of Abilene, TX; other relatives and friends.
