Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Monday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Sharon Jones officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery.
Callie Ruth (Lucas) Davenport was born to Henry Freland and Martha May (Solenberg) Lucas on September 19, 1940 at Caddo, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on August 8, 2016 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 20 days.
Ruth grew up in Oklahoma until the family moved to California in 1951. She returned to Walters, OK, in 1978 and later made her home at Temple in 2000. Through the years she was a factory worker, a truck driver, a nurse’s aide, she had a race car and was the owner of speedway news. The last 18 working years were spent as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Walters Ambulance Service and she taught CPR and First Responder courses. Ruth enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, crocheting and antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Davenport; a son, William Johnson; 3 brothers, Paul, Silas and Joseph Lucas; 4 sisters, Alene Eubanks, Mary McCutchen, Martha Lucas and Esther Buffington; and a granddaughter, Erica Johnson.
Survivors include 5 children, Donna Herring and husband, Ralph of Fort Wayne, IN, Diana Johnson of Lawton, OK, Marcus Johnson and wife Michele of Escondido, CA, Joseph J Johnson of Downey, CA and Johanna Johnson of Lawton, OK; 2 step-daughters and spouses, Karyl and Doug Bowers, Donna and Wayne Dutton; a brother, David Lucas and wife Francine of Rogers, AR; a sister, Beckie Swindle and husband Jim of Temple; 33 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
