Funeral Services at Corum Baptist Church, Corum, OK, Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Bruce Humphries officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Visitation Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Baptist Home for Girls, 13976 Anthony Lane, Madill, OK 73446.

 

 

 

Ardenia Frances (Read) Cox was born to Edgar Bunyon and Cuba Eliza (Garrett) Read on August 10, 1929 at Caney, Oklahoma and departed this life August 11, 2016 at Wichita Falls, TX at the age of 87 years and 1day.

 

Dean grew up in the Durant, OK area. She graduated from Rush Springs High School at a young age and by 18 was teaching school. She would attend college during the summers and eventually received a bachelor’s degree from OBU. Dean taught at Union Valley, Alex, Walters, Grandview and finished at Temple from 1962-1976 when she retired and became Earl’s fulltime hired hand.

 

She was a member of Corum Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed reading, spoiling the grandkids, painting, an occasional trip to the casino, day trips with Earl to the area she grew up in, annual trips to Branson and several cruises.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Survivors include her husband, Earl, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Terrie Cox of Burkburnett, TX; a daughter, JeanAnn Lennard of Lake Oswego, OR; a brother, Steve Read of Duncan, OK; 4 grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Contreras of Burkburnett, Amber and Chad Richards of Burkburnett, Taylor and Ryan Mullens of Milwaukie, OR, and Cale Lennard of Milwaukie; 3 great grandchildren, Makenzie and Macey Contreras and Reese Richards, along with one on the way, Charlie Mullens; many other relatives and friends.
