Memorial Services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at Open Door Church of God, Walters, OK, Rev. Roger Noland officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Burial was previously held at the Walters Cemetery on July 29, 2016. Memorial donations can be made at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Samuel Chester Tunnell, Jr. was born on June 17, 1955 to Samuel Chester Tunnell, Sr. and Aluretta (Calfy) Tunnell in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on July 16, 2016 at the age of 61 years and 29 days.
Sam grew up in Temple, OK and graduated from Temple High School in 1973. He also attended vocational schools. He married Denise Elaine Phillips in July of 1987 and they made their home in Walters, OK. Sam worked as an overseas Cdl Driver for Haliburton, and then later worked as a Cdl Driver locally. In 2006 Sam and his wife moved to Duncan and then onto Oklahoma City in 2007 and back to Walters in 2012. He loved to watch cartoons and visit with people.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Tunnell; his parents, Samuel and Aluretta (Calfy) Tunnell; his brother, Johnny Tunnell; and a brother-in-law Kenneth Greenroyd.
Survivors his daughter Sheena Paslay and family of Chatanooga, OK, his daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Stefan Allen of Oklahoma City, OK, his son Shane Tunnell of Montgomery, AL, his son Brant Tunnell of Oklahoma City; his sister and brother-in-law Faye and Randy Eden of Westmoreland, TN; 3 grandchildren Samuel, Haylei, and Ryley Allen of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
