Kaye Lee (Kaniatobe) Vardell was born on September 1, 1972 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on July 18, 2016 at the age of 43 years 10 months and 17 days.
Raised by her parents, Dwight Edward and Beverly Sue (Kaniatobe) Thompson, Kaye Lee grew up in California and Walters, OK. She married Howard Dean Vardell in 1990 and they made their home in the Claremore/Tulsa, OK area. She then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a time before returning to Walters. She was a homemaker and also worked some as a cook and carhop. She enjoyed listening to music, doing crossword puzzles, playing board games and cards, taking care of others and spending time with family. She was a member of the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Kathleen Kaniatobe in 1973; and later by her parents, Dwight Edward and Beverly Sue Thompson.
Survivors include 4 children, Valerie Vardell of Walters, Jonathan Vardell of Fort Worth, TX, Miranda Smart of Washington, and Briana Vardell of Walters; 3 grandchildren, Brayden Nicholas Wauqua, Donovan Macks Wauqua and Jaxton Bayne Lee; a brother, Marko Thompson of Walters; her biological father, Dennis Kaniatobe and wife Evelyn of Montezuma Creek, Utah; a half-brother, D.J. Kaniatobe of Blanding, Utah; a half-sister, Kayla Kaniatobe of Montezuma Creek, Utah; her uncle, Virgil James and wife Jan of Lawton; other relatives and friends.
