Jack McGee, 90, Temple, OK
Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Friday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Kevin Simpson officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery. Visitation at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Jack Edward McGee was born to George Lester “Les” and Meta Kathleen (Chambers) McGee on April 29, 1926 at Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on July 12, 2016 at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Jack grew up attending Temple Schools and joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country during WWII. He then married Evelyne Georgia Glasgow and to the union 5 children were born. He later married Melba Louise (Smith) on December 29, 1962 at Lawton and to the Union a daughter was born. Through the years Jack worked for Sears as a serviceman both at Temple and later Lawton. He then owned and operated Jack’s Station, did farming and ranching, carpentry and roofing, and also work at the cotton gin for many years.
Growing up he enjoyed playing football. He has also enjoyed fishing, working his cattle and spending time with the grandkids. Jack was proud to have accepted Christ at age 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Melba McGee; an infant grandson; a great grandson, Justin Puga; 2 brothers, Cecil McGee and Louis McGee; and 2 sisters, Erpha Knapp and Lois James; and a special friend, Pat Thompson.
Survivors include 6 children, Billy Jack McGee of Ft. Worth, TX, LaTonia Huckabee and husband Bill of Midland, TX, Nancy Smylie and husband Eddie of Cloud Croft, NM, Regenia (McGee) Jones and husband Jimmie of Odessa, TX, Jerry Dale McGee and wife Caroline of San Angelo, TX and Janet Ruth McGee of Temple; a stepson, Mickey Grissom and wife Denise of Walters; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and 4 great-great-greats on the way; a brother and a sister-in-law, Don and Joyce McGee of Temple; a sister, Noma Jennings of Snyder, OK; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
