Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK on Tuesday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the Memorial in the Methodist Church fellowship hall.
Carol Ann (Bergen) Johnson was born to Henry and Ora Bergen in Glenbeulah, WI on August 30, 1934 and passed on to the Lord on June 16, 2016 in Lawton, OK at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 17 days.
Carol attended schools in Glenbeulah and Fond du Lac, WI. She went on to graduate from Oshkosh State Teachers College in 1955 and began teaching elementary school in Sheboygan, WI. She married CWO John C. Johnson in Fond du Lac, on October 19, 1957, after which they traveled together to several military installations, settling in Lawton, OK in 1967. There she resumed her career, teaching Special Education for 20 years.
Carol enjoyed animals, having several cats and dogs and a couple of goats along the way. She worked side by side with her husband raising Polled Hereford breeding stock, an adventure which delighted her.
She is survived by her husband of the home; a son, John Jr. and wife, Saundra of Norman, OK; a daughter, Laura of Lawton; 2 grandsons, J. Michael Johnson and Julio Diaz; and her sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Pete Meyst of Westerville, OH.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Wanda Bergen.
