Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Tuesday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m., with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, June 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Robert Joseph “Bob” Wilkinson was born to Robert Merle and Elvie Allien (Dyer) Wilkinson on February 28, 1944 at Napa Valley, CA and departed this life in Duncan, OK on June 9, 2016 at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Bob grew up in California, but with his dad in the military, they had moved to San Antonio, TX where he graduated from MacArthur High School in 1963. They then moved to Walters, OK, and Bob went on to attend Okmulgee Tech studying art. He married Camilita Mejia in June of 1966 and to the union a daughter, Kelly, was born.
He worked at Stimpson Chevrolet as a mechanic and then worked at Haggar’s, pawn shops and various other jobs before settling into his sign painting business. He moved to Albuquerque in the late 1980’s where he continued painting signs while there 17 years, eventually returning to Walters 10 years ago with brush in hand. He was a health buff as he enjoyed walking, biking and lifting. He loved sunny days and sunsets.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wilkinson.
Survivors include his mother, Elvie Allien Hawkins of Albuquerque; his daughter, Kelly Wilkinson of Walters; 2 grandsons, Bryse Russell and Breyden Turner of Walters; a sister, Barbara Baker and husband Butch of Oklahoma City; his step-mother, Katie Wilkinson of Norman, OK; a step-brother, Phil Hensley of Norman; 2 nieces and a nephew, Tonya Grenier of Norman, Ron Grenier of Washington and Kimberley Rawlinson of Oklahoma City; great niece and 2 great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
