Doug Allen

Memorial Service at Calvary Baptist Church, Walters, Thursday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Philip Beard Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

John Douglas Allen was born the only child to Robert Steven and Freida (Pettigrew) Allen on December 2, 1933 at Centerville, TX and departed this life in Walters, OK on May 21, 2016 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 19 days.

Doug and his parents lived at Post, TX, until the age of 6. The family then moved to Fort Worth where he attended Polytechnic High School. He entered the United States Army as a young man, serving his country honorably in Germany during the Korean War. Doug married Juanita Louise Cooper on February 9, 1955. Their family made many moves across the country through the years with his job as carpet layer. He also worked several years as a truck driver for Alliance Steel. They settled in Walters for the final time in 1971. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, poker and bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Freida Allen, and his son, Douglas Wayne Allen.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Juanita “Beanie” Allen; 5 children, Sam Allen and Nancy of Walters, Roy Allen and Teena of Walters, Nancy Morse of Walters, Richard Allen and Kimberly of Oklahoma City, Donald Allen and Kathryn of Walters; 14 grandchildren, Brandon Allen, Sandra Hilbert, Jason Allen, Chris Allen, Michael Allen, Kacie Hunter, Robert Allen, Stefan Allen, Nicole Allen, Elizabeth Allen, Clarissa Allen, Ryan Allen, Tyler Allen and Cameron Allen; 14 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
