Funeral services at Central Baptist Church, Burkburnett, Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Duane Perkinson officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Viewing in Walters from 1:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday and 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Hart-Wyatt. Visitation at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Roger Glenn Adams was born to Howard Francis and Edna Elizabeth (Eschler) Adams on March 14, 1937 at Cookietown, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on April 2, 2016 at the age of 79 years and 19 days.
Roger grew up at Cookietown where he attended Union Valley School. He entered the United States Navy, serving his country honorably from 1955 to 1959. He married Mary Anita Abbe on January 1, 1960 at Union Valley Baptist Church, Cookietown and to the union 2 children were born. They have made their home in Burkburnett since 1964.
Roger worked as a lineman/electrician for TU Electric, retiring after 33 years with the company. He was a longtime active member of Central Baptist Church, the Lions Club and the Burkburnett Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, boating and doing word searches.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edna Adams; his son, Glenn Wayne Adams in 1998; his daughter, Melynda Diane Adams in 2000; and his brother Steve Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; his daughter-in-law, Paula Adams of Burkburnett; 4 grandkids and spouses, Matthew Wayne Adams and Cheryl of Graham, TX, Justin Hiner and Roseann Loya of Burkburnett, Shawn Adams and Charmis of Andover, KS and Kyle Adams of Burkburnett; 7 great grandchildren, Bryce, Aidan, Claire, Andrew, Chloe, Evany, Lizzy; a brother and sister-in-law, Kirby and Joyce Adams Hastings, OK; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Leslie Adams, Howard Abbe, Carla and Jerry Phillips, Ella and Jim Chambers, Wilda Abbe; other relatives and a host of friends.
