Carl Fletcher, 90, Temple, OK

Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, Tuesday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m., Bro. Craig Stuke officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery with Military Honors. Viewing at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and at Hart-Wyatt in Temple from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

Carl Richard Fletcher was born Barnie Hoit and Della Bell (Parks) Fletcher on October 27, 1925, west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 25, 2016 at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 27 days.

Carl grew up west of Walters, attending Soldier Creek School and eventually Walters High School. He served his county honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and continued serving in the Army Reserves through 1957. After the war Carl worked in the oilfields of West Texas and lived at Roswell, NM for a time as well before settling back in Cotton County. He worked 27 years for Atlas Tuck Ready Mix Concrete as a truck driver and later as manager of the Walters plant. He married Mary Alice (Roach) Sutton on July 3, 1985 at Wichita Falls, TX and they have enjoyed the past 30 years together, making their home in Temple.

Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple. He enjoyed gardening, going to the Hop-N-Sack, was active with the Senior Citizens Center where he enjoyed playing dominos. He loved traveling, visiting, watching the news, football, and keeping up with politics on TV. He also enjoyed attending several WWII Reunions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B. H. and Della Fletcher; 4 brothers, Edward, Robert, Earl Dean and Dale Roy Fletcher; a stepson, Freddie Anderson and a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Cornell.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Carole and Larry Musgrove of Faxon; 2 stepsons, Ronnie Fowler and wife Gracie of Randlett, OK, Jesse “Sonny” Anderson and wife Shirley of Iowa Park, TX; a stepdaughter, Tina Wright of Kiowa, OK; 3 sisters, Mildred Fullen of Joshua, TX, Thelma Bilbrey of Walters and Ann Weibel of Olney, TX; 4 brothers-in-law and their spouses, Al and Doris Roach of Lawton, Charlie and Lorene Roach of Lawton, Jack and Beverly Roach of Boston, MA, John and Cora Roach of Fletcher, OK; a sister-in-law, Lenora Dowlen of Lawton; grandchildren, Derrick Wayne Musgrove and wife Kristle, Kevin Scott Anderson of Temple, Billy Joe Anderson of Seymour, TX, Melissa Carol Weaver of Springtown, TX, Lori Lynn of Texas, Tony Dewayne Cornell of Rhome, TX, Treva Cornell of Azle, TX, and Michael Cornell of Azle; 2 great grandchildren, Austin Wayne Musgrove and Kylie Mae Musgrove many other step great grandkids; other relatives and many friends.
