Vondel Witt, 95, Walters, OK Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Walters, Monday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Stanley Baker and Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. Vondel Elizabeth (Kirk) Witt was born to Bedford Finley and Georgie Lee (Smith) Kirk on October 16, 1919 near Snyder, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on September 17, 2015 at the age of 95 years, 11 months and 1 day. Vondel grew up in the rural Snyder and Tipton areas of Oklahoma and attended Victory School. She was a farm girl who chopped cotton, pulled bolls and swam in the creek and river. She was the 2nd youngest of 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Vondel was teased by some saying, "your papa's favorite." She never denied it. Some friends and family called her "Blue" because her eyes were such a bright blue. She married Jack Willoughby Witt on December 4, 1937 at Walters. They made their home at Walters where they raise two children, Jackie and Bob. Vondel was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the Farm Women Garden Club for many years while it was active. She enjoyed working with flowers, doing handcrafts and sewing. She loved to fish and brag about how she beat Jack. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her daughter, Jackie; and all 9 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Witt of Oklahoma City; her son-in-law, Les Ewing of Beuno Vista, AR; 4 grandchildren spouses, Toni and Ed Rys of Plano, TX, Mike and Kristen Broberg of Richardson, TX; Jeremy Paul and Terra Witt of Marlow, OK, Cassie and Bart Durham of Lubbock, TX; 7 grandchildren, Cory Baker, Mason and Dylan Broberg, Abby Grace and Jackson Langdon Witt, Keeley and Landon Durham; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
