"Gene" Burton, Jr., 74, of Lebanon, OK Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., Charles Turney officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple, OK, Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Milton Eugene "Gene" Burton, Jr. was born to Milton Eugene and Velma Clytee (Dikes) Burton on October 31, 1940 at Hastings, OK and departed this life in Lebanon, OK on August 13, 2015 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 13 days. Gene grew up at Temple and graduated with the Class of 1958. He married Bettie LaRue Collins on June 6, 1959 at Temple and to the union 3 children were born. They made their home at Temple and Lawton, then back and forth to Texas before settling in Healdton, OK. They were there for more than 20 years and then have spent the past 20 plus years at Lebanon, OK. Early on Gene operated White's Auto Store in Temple and then drove a truck before working at Healdton Manufacturing as a sewing machine mechanic and later manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple. Gene enjoyed fishing and frying fish, some hunting and lots of dominos. He was preceded in death by his dad, Gene Burton, Sr. in 1992. Survivors include his mother, Clytee Burton of Temple, OK; his wife, LaRue of the home; 3 children, Kurtis Gene Burton of Healdton, OK, LaDonna Kris Burton of Benbrook, TX, Kindall Marie and husband, Joe Rector of Springtown, TX; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Nessmith of Ardmore, OK, Bradley Burton of Wilson, OK, Collin Rector and Ashland Rector of Springtown, TX; other relatives and many friends.
