William "Bill" Franklin, 77, Hulen, OK Funeral service at Hulen United Methodist Church, on Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating with burial in the Letitia Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Donations can be made to the School of your choice. William Lewis "Bill" Franklin was born to William Albert and Ona Irene (Bull) Franklin on September 21, 1937 and departed this life in Lawton, OK on July 31, 2015 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 10 days. Bill grew up at Hulen, attending school at Hulen and then graduating from Geronimo High School in 1955. He then joined the U.S. Army serving his country honorably for 4 years and then joining the Army Reserve. He married Myrtle Jociephine "Jo" Vantine on February 14, 1959 at Lawton. Bill worked as a Lawton Firefighter for 17 years and then worked several years for the State of Oklahoma as an LP Gas Inspector/ Investigator, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Hulen United Methodist Church. He was a Civil War Historian and enjoyed watching documentaries, studying the Bible and keeping a journal. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 sisters and their husbands, Lois Langford, Wanda and Jerry Crouch, Jo and George Klein. He is survived by his wife, Jo, of the home; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and David Baxter of Lawton, OK, Rhonda and Dennis McCants of Walters, OK; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Dana Franklin of Hulen; a brother Doug Franklin and wife Carolyn of Minneola, TX; 2 sisters, Dean Marlett and husband, John of The Colony, TX, and Garwalda Palange of Kissimmee, FL; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Baxter and wife, Christina of Osan, South Korea, William Taylor Baxter of Lawton, Madigan Bay "Maddie" McCants of Walters and Hailey Franklin of Hulen; a great grandson, Clifford James Baxter of Osan; many other relatives and friends.
