Calvin Weir, 80, Walters, OK Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Chapel, Friday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Ron Bartoli officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, July 23 at Hart-Wyatt. Calvin Earl Weir was born to Earl "Bud" and Ina Gladys (Boliver) Weir on January 14, 1935 at Leedy, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on July 22, 2015 at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 8 days. Calvin grew up northwest of Walters, graduating from WHS in 1954. He went on to attend some college before entering the U.S. Navy serving his country honorably for 4 years during the Korean War. He married Dortha Mae Parks on July 21, 1956 at Walters and to the union 2 daughters were born. The couple has always made Walters their home but for a time spent in Tennessee during Calvin's military service and later a short time in west Texas. Calvin did custom harvesting for 32 years and has also farmed, had a gunsmith shop, a TV repair shop, was a welder and a mechanic. He was a member New Salem Baptist Church and was a lifelong member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, boating and loved his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dortha, of the home; 2 daughter and a son-in-law, Debra and Rolan Taylor of Plains, TX and Sherry Nelson of Walters; a brother, Albert Weir and wife Mary of Rogersville, AL; a sister, Bell Musgrove and husband John of Geronimo, OK; 5 grandchildren, Jason Jacobs, Rachel Carré, Justin Taylor, Brandon Nelson and wife April, and Karissa Nelson; 7 great grandchildren, Rolan, Dylan, Hayden, Kelton, Sarah, Kaylee and Maci; many other relatives and friends.
