Ralph Hoodenpyle, 77, Lawton, OK Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Wednesday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Richard Stillwell and Rev. Roger Noland officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial Donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 341, Walters, OK 73572, the Open Door Church of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 231, Walters, or the Walters Education Foundation, 418 S. Broadway, Walters. Ralph G. Hoodenpyle was born to Ernest Franklin and Ruth Alene (Willis) Hoodenpyle on April 15, 1938, north of Walters and departed this life at his home north of Lawton, OK on May 29, 2015 at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 14 days. Ralph grew up in the Thrill Hills area north of Walters. He graduated from Walters High School, Class of 1956 and soon joined the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Infantry Division on the Rifle team that won the Championship 5 out of 6 years, actively serving his country for 6 years followed by 2 years inactive. From 1956-58 he worked as a mechanic at the Ford dealership in Walters. He married Carol A. White on June 12, 1959 at FBC Walters and to the union two children were born, Ralph Wayne and Carol Denise Tulloh. The couple made their home north of Walters, where they raised their son and daughter. They later made their home north of Lawton in the Wichita Mountain Estate area. Ralph grew up farming, did custom hay baling and was a lifelong rancher. Through the years he also did carpentry, welding, worked for Construction Ag, put plows together for Case and worked as a plumber for Bar S. He lived an active life which included hunting, fishing, trading, riding ATV's in the mountains of Colorado, cooking a good steak, spending time at the lake, doing cowboy action shooting, trail rides with the Lawton Rangers and taking part in the Walters Gun Club. He was also involved with the production of Hillbilly Hand Fishing, providing transportation for the crew and equipment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Carol A. (White) Hoodenpyle; parents Ernest and Ruth Hoodenpyle; a brother, Ernest F. Hoodenpyle, Jr.; a sister Doris Ann Hoodenpyle; and infant brother James Richard Hoodenpyle. Survivors include his son, Ralph Wayne Hoodenpyle of Walters; his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Pete Tulloh of Walters; his twin brother and 2 sisters-in-law, Ray and Shirley Hoodenpyle, and Ada Jewel "Judy" Hoodenpyle all of Walters; 5 grandchildren, Weston, Kevin and Kelly Hoodenpyle, Austin and Caitlin Tulloh; other relatives and many friends.
