Raymond Spurlock, 90, of Temple, OK Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m., Jim Spurlock and Kevin Simpson officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Raymond Lee Spurlock was born to Henry Franklin and Edrie Marie (Ross) Spurlock on November 1, 1924 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on April 19, 2015 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 18 days. Raymond grew up at Temple, graduating from THS in the Class of 1942. He was working in the oilfield when he met Leora May Robbs, otherwise known as "Toots." They married on November 4, 1950 at Plainview, TX and moved around with the oilfield until 1965. At that time they made their home in Temple and began custom harvesting in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and Colorado. He retired from harvesting in 1985 only to begin a 15 plus year career with the City of Temple driving the trash truck. He spent the last three years at Temple Manor Nursing Home. Raymond was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Temple, where he sang in the choir and taught RA's, among other areas of service. He sang bass in the Templeaires Quartet for many years and was a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and singing. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Floyce Willis, Patsy Moore, Nita Pfister and Marietta Kindred; a son, Gary Wayne Spurlock; and a great grandson, Blake Miller. Survivors include his wife, Leora "Toots" of the home; 3 children and spouses, Barry and Kim Spurlock of Burkburnett, TX, Robbie and Johnette Spurlock of Pilot Point, TX, Kala and Steve Miller of Seminole, OK; a daughter-in-law, Onetta Spurlock of Temple; a brother, Dwight Spurlock and wife Karen of Texas City, TX; 10 grandchildren, Paula, Brad, Tabitha, Amber, Mary Elyse, Ryan, Kyle, Steven Paul, Brett and Tyler; 8 great grandchildren, Brodie, Zayn, Dylan, Courtney, Alex, Ethan, Ashlyn, and Sadie; many other relatives and friends.
