Virginia Mae "Cricket" Wilson, age 94, Walters, OK A celebration of Cricket's life will be held at 1:30 p.m., April 10, 2015, at the Walters Church of the Nazarene, Walters Oklahoma, with Rev. Paul Metcalfe, Rev. Paul Stroud, and Rev. Dwight Campbell officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Online guest book at www.hart-wyattfuneralhome.com Virginia Mae Wilson, or "Cricket," was born at home June 27, 1920 in the Essaquanahdale Community south of Walters Oklahoma to Scott C. and Verna Bell (Moorman) Lewallen and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on April 4, 2015. Cricket spent her early school years, first at Essaquanahdale, then the 7th & 8thth grades at the Soldier Valley School, followed by one semester at Temple Jr. High. The family then moved to Walters where Cricket graduated in 1938. During her High School years she was a live-in housekeeper for Ms. Mary Grimes, the Walters High School Music Teacher. In 1937 she met and then married the love of her life, Wesley Wilson on September 25, 1938 and began a life of travel throughout the oil fields of Oklahoma, West Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Montana. Returning to Walters in 1955 Cricket and Wes owned and operated the Phillips 66 "Kwick-Way" Service Station on Broadway. Becoming very active in the Walters Nazarene Church where she and Wes maintained a dominating presence for the rest of their lives. Cricket held many positions within the church from Janitor to Treasure, Song leader and SS Teacher truly a servant to all. And, a wonderful influence on the myriad of people that came and went throughout her life in the church. Cricket worked for many years at the Haggar Slack Factory in Temple and maintained a life long relationship with many of those friends at Haggar's. A help-mate to Wes as he farmed for many years, she loved to sing, read, work in her yard, and loved to brag on her "2 perfect boys" and their families. Truly a Servant, a prayer warrior and spiritual leader within her church and family she was aptly named "Cricket. She was a bundle of energy, a wonderful loving wife, cook and mother, and a gifted Servant to all. Cricket Wilson will be remembered for her boundless energy and Godly caring ways. Cricket was preceded in death by her parents; a Brother Webster (Bud) Lewallen: a Sister Quentis L. Hewett; and her husband of 64 years Wesley E. Wilson. Survivors include 2 sons, Lynn W. Wilson and wife JoAn of Yukon OK, and Wayne E. Wilson and wife Rita of Lawton OK; 3 Grandchildren Cheri Lynn Hansen and husband Bob, Kimberly Ann Hough and husband Todd, all of Oklahoma City, Scott and wife Keri Wilson of Cody WY: 4 Great-Grandchildren, Ty Hansen, Timothy Hough, Autumn and Nathan Wilson; many nieces, nephew and cousins; other relatives and many friends.
