Mary Ellen (Thomas) Matlock was born to Levada Ellen (Crow) and Cladie James Thomas on June 23, 1936 at Walters, OK and departed this life in El Reno, OK on January 27, 2015 at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 4 days. Mary grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1954. She married Donald Ray "Don" Matlock on January 29, 1955 at Fletcher, OK. They made their home in Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas before returning to Walters in 1974 where they owned and operated Don and Mary's Florist for several years. They then moved to Duncan and eventually Lawton where they worked at City & Country Flowers. In 1994 they moved to Devol and after Don's passing Mary moved back to Duncan and then to El Reno to be near her daughter. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church, Devol, OK. She enjoyed quilting, shopping, going to garage sales and spending time with Don and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Leonard Matlock, in 2007; her husband, Don, in 2009; and a sister, Mildred Louise Stengl. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Diane and Truman Ferguson of Geary, OK; 3 sisters, Lenora Stanford of Lawton, OK, Daisy Thomas and husband Larry of Temple, TX, and Delores Dorton of Duncan, OK; a brother and his wife, Clay and Phylis Thomas of Denton, TX; 7 grandchildren and spouses, Bryan and Ashley Goode of Geronimo, OK, Stefanie B. Goode of Coos Bay, OR, Ashley and Derrick Green of Duncan, Jayme and Stacy Skeen of Comanche, Mackenzie Matlock of Waurika, Quinton Matlock of Elgin and Trevor Matlock; 6 great grandchildren, Abree, Harlee, Georgia Rae, Brenley, Cambree and Cannon; many other relatives and friends.
