We honor her legacy of many gifts and contributions she made as a friend, sister, wife, and mother. Christa Viola (Coffer) Lipscomb was born to James Monroe and Gladys Mandy (Lowery) Coffer on Tuesday, April 29, 1924 in Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on January 10, 2015 at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 12 days. Christa grew up in Hastings and attended Mountain Home School district 112 from 1930-1935 and later Pleasant Valley from 1936-1937. The family moved to a farm northeast of Temple where Christa enrolled at THS in 1938, graduating in 1943. While picking cotton in the fall of 1942, she met a young man named Jack C. Lipscomb and they eventually married on November 28, 1942 at Walters. The couple made their home and raised a large family on a farm northeast of Temple. She was a dedicated homemaker and farmers wife. She picked cotton along-side Jack, milked the cow each morning and evening making butter from the cream. She always had chickens, did laundry on Mondays, gardened, canned, sewed and quilted. She frequently wrote letters to friends and family, and always cooked a big Sunday dinner with cobbler. She believed in working hard for 6 days and worshiping God in church on the 7th, serving faithfully as a Sunday School teacher at Valley View Baptist Church east of Walters. She eventually joined First Baptist Church in Temple, and also faithfully attended First Presbyterian Church in Temple for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Elmer James and Clarence Ray Coffer; 2 sisters, Ruby Mae Davis and Agnes Marie Coffer; her daughter, Inda Lou in 1964; her son, Jackie in 1980; and her husband, Jack C.
