Helen B. Fletcher, 86, Walters, OK. Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Walters, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Jay Driskill officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Walters Cemetery Association or the Walters Education Foundation. Helen Beatrice (Taylor) Fletcher was born to Carrol Lee and Beatrice "Bea" Barbe Taylor on July 13, 1928, west of Walters and departed this life on December 30, 2014 in Lawton, OK at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 17 days. Helen grew up in the Emerson area west of Walters, graduating from Walters High School in 1945 and then attended Cameron College for a time. Early on she worked a couple of years as an operator for the phone company. She married Lois Edwin Fletcher on July 13, 1946 at Temple, OK. They made their home east of Walters where they were engaged in farming and ranching for many years. She and Lois built the current home in the early 1950's. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters. When the kids were young she served as a Cub Scout Leader and helped with the Brownies. She enjoyed watching TV, reading, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, checking the cows with Lois, picking up rocks and sticks, having a weeny roast, playing dominoes, Pinochle and Canasta. She loved spending time with the grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lois in 1995; her brother, Dale Taylor; and her son, Michael E. Fletcher in 2011. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen L. and Marilynn Fletcher of Walters; a daughter, Karen B. Fletcher of Wylie, TX; a daughter-in-law, Paula Fletcher of Walters; a sister-in-law, Dee Taylor of Cyril, OK; 6 granddaughters and spouses, Michelle and Kevin Carroll of Glenpool, OK, Stephanie and Chad Simpson of Bellefonte, PA, Mica and Thomas Smith of Walters, Stacie and Randy Allen of Irving, TX, Holly and Andrew Pulis of Walters, Tori and Sam Gonzalez of Walters; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
