Doyle Martin Sr., 75, of Houston, TX A Memorial Service will be held at Westbury Baptist Church, Houston, Thursday, December 18 at 4:00 p.m. Franklin Doyle Martin was born to Jessie Walter and Alice Dorothy (Kittrell) Martin on January 17, 1939 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Houston, TX on December 7, 2014 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 20 days. Doyle grew up in and around Walters, graduating from WHS in 1957. He married Judith Kaye Nichols on August 2, 1958. He was a journeyman carpenter at Lawton/Fort Sill, worked for Public Service Company of Oklahoma, and was an agent/telegrapher and later District Sales Manager for the Rock Island Railroad. In 1978 Doyle started and was still active with Marko Transportation, a Houston based transportation company serving the lower 48 states, Canada and Mexico. He served his country in the National Guard of Oklahoma from February 1956 until January 31, 1964. He was a Charter Member of Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, served on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committee, was a Master Mason of Grand Lodge of Texas, Gray #329, member of the Transportation Club of Houston, and a member of Westbury Baptist Church of Houston. Doyle loved talking to people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed bird watching, train watching, hunting, fishing and gardening. His favorite hobby was Genealogy, his favorite book the Bible, and his favorite movie It's a Wonderful Life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Alice Martin; 2 brothers, Jessie Keith "Leon" Martin and L. Keith Martin; and 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria Martin and Jo Eva Martin. Survivors include his wife, Judith K. of Houston; 3 children and spouses, Jayne Martin of Houston, Dona Manning and Bill of Sugar Land, TX, Doyle Martin Jr. and Angela of Katy, TX; 4 grandchildren Halee and Andrew Manning, Morgan and Doyle Martin III (Trey); 4 brothers, Donald Martin and wife Dana of Wilson, OK, Doug, Arnold and Stanley Martin all of Walters, OK; 2 sisters and spouses, Connie and Tommy Doake of Ratliff City, OK, Margaret and Rod Robinson of Gore, OK; 2 sisters-in-law, Dollie Martin of Waynesboro, VA and Nina Martin of Walters; his Nichols Family, Mike and Judy Nichols of Allen, TX, Doug and Linda Nichols of Duncan, OK, Vicki & F.L. "Buz" Norman of Ingram, TX, Horace Jr and Deb Nichols of Duncan, OK, Doyle and Marsha Nichols of Montgomery, TX, Pamela West of Duncan, OK; as well as, many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Services were held at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m., Gary Hart officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.
