Elisabeth Barbara Thorne

Elisabeth Thorne, 86, Walters, OK Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Monday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Elisabeth Barbara (Hibler) Thorne was born to Simon and Barbara Marie (Auer) Hibler on April 19, 1928 at Erding, Germany and departed this life in Lawton, OK on November 7, 2014 at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 19 days. Elisabeth grew up and graduated from high school in Erding, Germany. While working at the PX on base she met a young American named Milton Earl Thorne. They later married on February 19, 1953 at Erding. Walters became their home, but Milton's Civil Service job moved them to several Air bases until retiring at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and returning to Walters in 1988. She was employed as a line supervisor at the Hagger slacks factory in Temple until it closed and transferred to the Lawton factory. Mrs. Thorne attended First United Methodist Church in Walters and always enjoyed going out to eat with her church lady friends. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and attending family gatherings on the holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Milton. Survivors include 2 sisters, Marianne Bley and Ulla Wenhart both of Erding, Germany; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Sammie Thorne of Walters; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and frineds.
