Charles "Chuck" Thompson, 63, Lawton, OK Graveside service at the Walters Cemetery, Monday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Ron Bartoli Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Leander Charles "Chuck" Thompson was born to Gerald D and LaVera Faye (Chockpoyah) Thompson on April 3, 1951 at Fort Sill, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on November 6, 2014 at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 3 days. Chuck and his family moved all over the U.S., as well as, Germany and Bermuda among other places with his dad's military career. They were eventually back at Walters and he graduated from WHS in 1969. He then entered the U.S. Army serving his country honorably in Vietnam. Some of his commendations and medals include, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, 2 Bronze Stars, Expert with M16, Combat Infantry Badge and Expert with Hand Grenade. He made his home in North Carolina for several years before returning to Oklahoma, living at El Reno and Lawton. Through the years he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and also did steel building fabrication. Chuck was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed karaoke, NASCAR, watching Mike & Mike in the Morning, camping, fishing, the outdoors and football. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He was survived by his mother, LaVera Thompson of Walters; his father, Gerald Thompson of the Lawton/Ft. Sill VA Center; 3 sons, Douglass Wayne "Doug" Parrish of Walters, Charles Mitchell "Charlie" Parrish of Oklahoma City and Rocky Lee Thompson and wife Amanda of El Reno; a brother Doug Thompson and wife Lynne Adene Thompson of Walters; 7 grandchildren, Devyn and Danyca Parrish, Connor and Ceara Parrish, Sharidee, Sierra and Jordan Thompson; a niece and nephew; 11 great nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.
