James R. "Jim" Lewallen, 74, Tahlequah, OK Graveside services at the Walters Cemetery, Friday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. James Russell "Jim" Lewallen was born to Toney Nathan and Laura Lorene (Dilks) Lewallen on December 16, 1939 at Temple, Oklahoma and departed this life at his home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on October 13, 2014 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 27 days. Jim was raised in Temple where attended Temple Schools for 12 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army, 25th Infantry out of Hawaii, serving in Laos. He was honorably discharged January 28, 1963. While attending Cameron College, Jim was a member of the Cameron Football team that played in the Junior Rose Bowl in 1964. He married Sherril Anne Box September 10, 1966. He then received his Master's Degree in Business Administration in 1968 from Northeastern State University. He worked as an insurance executive for several companies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toney and Laura Lewallen; his grandmother, Nell Dilks; and a grandson, Kyle Sutton. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Kevin Broad of Tulsa, OK; a granddaughter, Rachel Broad of Tulsa, OK; a brother, Steve Lewallen of Marlow, OK; two sisters, Linda Elam and Barbara Butts, both of Washington. Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and many Cousins, other relatives and many friends.
