Gwendolyn Jenkins

Gwendolyn (Preast) Jenkins was born to Lewis Wesley and Mildred May (Owen) Preast on November 1, 1945 in Lawton, OK and departed this life September 16, 2014 in Temple, OK at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 15 days. Gwen grew up at Indiahoma, OK, graduating in 1964. She married Finis Ralph Jenkins on March 10, 1966 at Indiahoma and then made their home in Lawton. In 1975 they moved to Cache and then onto Indiahoma and Fletcher before settling in Walters in 1978. Through the years she worked as a nurse's aide at Arlington Manor in Lawton, then as a cook at Walters Public Schools from 1979 to 1984, and then worked 22 years as a cook at Parkview Manor in Walters, retiring in 2007. Gwen enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, embroidery, reading and spending time with her grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis; her parents; and 4 brothers, Davie Preast, Arnold Preast, W.A. "P-Dub" Preast and Donald Preast. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Jenkins of Cache, OK; her grandson, Braylin Jenkins of Cache; 2 brothers, Charles Preast of Silver City, NM, Roger Preast and wife Lorna of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sisters, Rosetta Swan and husband Orville of Bakersfield, CA and Roberta Hargrove of Ninnekah, OK; a host of other relatives and friends.
