Joyce Inman Johnson was born to Lawrence Samson and Lula Anna (Slider) Inman on May 9, 1931 at Brownsville, TX and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on July 20, 2014 at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 11 days. She married James Eldon "Shorty" Johnson on May 13, 1948, at Brownsville, TX They made their home in the Randlett/Devol area until moving to California in 1957, returning to Randlett in 1966. Joyce was a homemaker and loved life. She was a member of the Randlett Church of Christ. She enjoyed going to the lake, camping, fishing, eating out and taking road trips. She believed in cough drop sandwiches and Vicks was her cure-all. She loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed spending time with the entire family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shorty, in 2011; her infant son, Sammy Monroe Johnson in 1949; a brother, Ray Inman; 4 sisters, Thelma Rollins, twins Virginia Inman and Billie Inman and Betty Woods. Survivors include 4 sons and their wives, Hank and Barbara Johnson of Haslet, TX, Jim and Debbie Johnson, Joe and Suzie Johnson, Tom and Dianna Johnson all of Randlett; 6 daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Wade Jackson of Burkburnett, Terry Waggoner of Electra, Ruby Hjelte of Denton, Vicki McMullen of Burkburnett, Kristy and James Mello of Pueblo West, CO, Becky and Bill Davidson of Burkburnett; a brother, Bob Inman of Iraan, TX; 2 sisters, Kay Green and Joan Jordan both of Burkburnett; 28 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
