Wilton Elzie "Mac" McMasters was born to Walter and Mollie Pearl (Thompson) McMasters on February 6, 1914 east of Comanche, OK and departed this life June 13, 2014, in Comanche, reaching the milestone of 100 years, 4 months and 7 days. Mac grew up in the Tucker Community east of Comanche where he completed the 8th grade. He married Eleanor Magdalena Orth on July 5, 1933 making their home in Walters. Early on Mac drove a truck hauling gravel and also delivering ice. He eventually went to work for Halliburton in Duncan and was chosen by Earl P. Halliburton to be his personal auto mechanic and detailer in the 1940's. He then worked for V.C. Davis Motor Company as mechanic and shop foreman. In 1952 he and his wife opened and operated the first drive-in grocery and meat market in Walters and he later owned the Western Auto for a time. His last employment was with the City of Walters as the Water Department Superintendent and also kept the police cars running. He couldn't simply retire, so he became a handyman just to stay busy and to help others. Mac was a member of First Baptist Church and was a long time member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). He always enjoyed making his trips to California to visit his brothers and sisters and their families. He was a people person and loved to play dominos. He was preceded in death by Eleanor in July of 1954. He married Vivian (Reece) Mowles in 1957 and they had 29 years together before her death in 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, an infant, Billy Wilton McMasters and Jimmy Richard McMasters; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Susie Maxine and Frank Hall of Duncan, OK; 4 grandchildren, Marcy McCall, Linda Sue Bundy, Greg Lynch and Cindy Williams; 7 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
