Jessie Rowena Norman was born January 29, 1918, to Louis and Alma (McMath) Carr north of Walters in the Lincoln Valley community and departed this life on May 7, 2014 at Temple, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 9 days. She attended Lincoln Valley school and then high school in Walters where she graduated with the class of 1936. She married George Athel Norman on July 20, 1939, in Altus. She was a homemaker, worked for Cotton Electric Cooperative as payroll clerk from 1951 to 1960, and from 1971 to 1981 assisted Athel in the used car business, operating Gate 4 Auto Sales in Lawton. After retiring, they spent many winters in south Texas, and summers in New Mexico and Colorado in their RV. Jessie was very talented in needlework, winning many ribbons at the Cotton County Fair in crochet, embroidery, cross stitch and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 28, 2010; her parents; two brothers, Herschel and Paul Carr; and two sisters, Veda Smith and Stella Allen. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Garrison, Walters, a son, Richard Norman and wife Beverly, Marlow; four grandchildren and their spouses: Craig and Krista Garrison, Burkburnett, Texas; Britani and Jeff Wludyka, Crestview, FL; Kassi and Logan Pulis, Geronimo; and Jami and Kody Simpson, Walters; two step-grandchildren, Cody and Jordan Cook, and Courtney Cook; two great-granddaughters, Londyn Pulis and Tenley Wludyka, three great-grandsons, Kaison Simpson, Trypp Pulis and Jaxson Wludyka; three step-great-granddaughters, Morgan and Arin Wood, and Ashlyn Wludyka; other relatives and friends.
