James E. Dungan was born to Roy and Vivian (Cosgrove) Dungan on December 16, 1922 at Horseshoe Bend, east of Marlow, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on May 5, 2014 at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 19 days. James moved to the Bethel Community east of Lawton with his family at a young age. He married Virginia Pearl Jarvis on June 7, 1941 at Bethel United Methodist. They have lived on the same mile all their marriage except for less than a year in the Roswell, NM area. He has been a lifetime farmer, worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Eastern District of Comanche County, and has also worked as a carpenter among many other jobs. He has enjoyed farming and raising cattle, watching deer and turkey at the creek, and when he was younger enjoyed coon hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Bonita Fern; a grandson, Darren Dungan; and 2 brothers, Perry and Lee Dungan. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; 2 children and their spouses, Jim and Pat Dungan of Duncan, OK, Janice and Charlie Cook of Bethel; 2 grandkids Ericka Carmon and husband Bud, and Evan Cook and partner, Dave Crawford all of Bethel; 2 great granddaughters, Morgayne and Madalyn Carmon; a sister-in-Law, Hazel Dungan of Lawton; many other relatives and many friends.
