Ola Mae (Davis) Teakell was born to Luther and Madie Thomas (Stanford) Davis on October 10, 1919 at Alvord, TX and departed this life in Temple, OK on April 17, 2014 at the age 94 years, 6 months and 7 days. Ola Mae grew up south of Walters. She married Freeman Teakell on September 18, 1938 at Ryan, OK. They made their home in Walters for many years where she was saved in 1940 at a revival service at First Baptist Church which was being held out back of the church by Bro. Haley. Ola Mae worked at B&C Grocery for 3 years and then worked at the Hagger slacks factory in Temple from 1959 to 1978. For the last few years she has made her home in Mississippi and Alabama to be near her family and she returned just recently, residing at Temple Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Freeman on April 28, 2000; her son, James Freeman Teakell; 4 brothers, Edgar Lee, Ernest Olen, Gene and Jim P. Davis; and 4 sisters, Katherine Teakell, Thelma Leona Franklin and Ethel Rape. Survivors include her daughter, Karla Ballenger and husband Al of Montgomery, AL; 3 grandchildren, Allen Taylor and wife Dottie of Hayden, AL, Kim Armstrong of Tallassee, AL and Matthew Teakell of Biloxi, MS; 3 great grandchildren, Joseph Cole and Tasha Cole of Tallassee, AL and Shane Taylor of Hayden, AL; a great-great granddaughter, Bethany Marie Cole of Tallassee; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
