Sylvia Carol (Copeland) Edgmon was born to Oral Jack and Margaret Lou (Barbe) Copeland on May 7, 1935 at Walters and departed this life in Lawton, OK on April 6, 2014 at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 30 days. Sylvia grew up west of Walters. Losing her mother at a young age, she was raised by her loving step-mom, Estelle. She graduated from Walters High in 1953 and soon married Jimmy Wayne Edgmon on May 23, 1953 at Wichita Falls, TX. They made their home at Walters where the couple has been engaged in farming and ranching. They built their current home in 1966. Sylvia enjoyed rodeos and bull riding events, horse races, ballgames and livestock shows with her kids and grandkids, taking the family to lake for camping and skiing, and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. She was preceded in death by her mom, Margaret Lou; her dad, Jack; her stepmom, Estelle; and a brother, Oral Dean. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy, of the home; her daughter, Karen Edgmon Fields of Walters; 4 sons and spouses, Larry and Beverly Edgmon of Burleson, TX, Gary Edgmon, David and Sandy Edgmon, and Chris Edgmon all of Walters; 2 brothers and their wives, Melvin and Wyva Rheu Copeland of Walters, Jacky Ray and Pam Copeland of Coppell, TX; 7 grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Jane Edgmon of Godly, TX, Lori and Hugh Kelly of Weatherford, TX, Linsay and Luke Williams of Burleson, TX, Jeff and Krystal Edgmon of Walters, Katarina Edgmon and Michael Edgmon both of Walters, and Raelyn Edgmon of Wichita Falls, TX; 9 great grandchildren, Kyle and Clay, Nolan and Myles, Ethan and Emma, Macie, Kynlee and Mylee; 1 great-great grandson, Corbin; many other relatives and friends.
