Wilma Hartman, 72, of Walters, Ok Wilma K. (Bridges) Hartman was born to Grover Richman and Emma Lavada (McCleary) Bridges on August 20, 1941 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters on February 28, 2014 at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 8 days. Wilma grew up at Walters where she married Jimmy Stanley Hartman on February 8, 1958. She graduated from WHS in the Class of 1961and eventually went on to become an RN through an Associate's Degree at Cook County College, Gainesville, TX and later received a Bachelor's in Nursing from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. After raising their kids in Walters, the couple moved around in Oklahoma and Texas with even a short stay in Colorado Springs. But she always considered Walters her home and has lived back here for the past 13 years. Besides nursing she has worked various other jobs including: running a flower shop, a t-shirt shop, working at Parrish Insurance, and United Grocery. She also sold real-estate, and wrote grants for the City of Walters and Walters Public Schools while serving as school nurse. While in high school she served as Drum Major and as a young adult she played pitcher in a ladies softball league. She has enjoyed gardening, remodeling, dancing and living life. She was an avid sports fan and supported her grandkids at all their athletic events. She loved her family. Wilma was a member of the Church of Christ and had also been a member of the Walters Chamber of Commerce, serving a term as President. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Coy Bridges; and 2 sisters, Wanda Adams and Audrey Fay Palmer. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy, of the home; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie and Dale Smith of Temple, OK, Debbie and Greg Williams of Crescent, OK; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Jackie Hartman of Walters; a sister-in-law, Joyce Bridges of Lawton; 7 grandchildren and spouses: Candra and David Garza, Bryan Williams, Lance Smith, Lesli and Dane Phillippe, Trevor Hartman, Chris Wilson, Cassidy and Megan Wilson; 11 great grandchildren, Jakob, Emily, Rian, Jace, Kyle, Paige, Easton, Cori Lyn, Ethan, Astryn and Clayton; other relatives and many friends.
