Aurelia Parkey Knox Carman was born on July 12, 1926 to Matilda Elizabeth Wright Parkey and James Randall Parkey at the family home southwest of Temple, OK. Aurelia began her school years at Kneedler Grade School and graduated from Temple High School in 1944. She graduated from Draughn's Business School in 1945. In 1946, her father introduced Aurelia to Joseph Maynard Knox and they were married October 12, 1946. To this union, two daughters were born, Carole Ann in 1948, and Brenda Kay in 1955. Aurelia and Maynard began their married lives in Temple and after two years living in Texarkana and two years in Fort Worth, they returned to Temple in 1954. Aurelia was a homemaker and began her working career in 1965 working as Secretary to the Temple High School Principal. She also worked at Red River Authority in Wichita Falls, Texas. After Maynard's death, Aurelia moved to Duncan, where she was employed in the Personnel Office at Duncan Regional Hospital. She ended her career working for the Lawrence Lewis Insurance Agency in Waurika. In 2000, Aurelia married John Edwin Carman and was blessed with one step-daughter Carla Ann and two step-sons, Craig and Clark. Aurelia enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She thoroughly enjoyed the family "42" domino games and family get-togethers. Aurelia and Ed loved traveling and going on their many trips to visit relatives, friends, and historic places. Aurelia is survived by her husband, Ed, of the home, her daughters and sons-in-Iaw, Carole and Jim Mumford, of Walters and Brenda and Bob Dossett of Billings, Montana; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brent and Lisa Mumford, Walters, Jana and Brian Welch of Lake Jackson, Texas and Lindsey and Jerod Stinson of Gillette, Wyoming.; six great-grandchildren, Ashley & Bobby Shortt, Heather & Casey Sides, all of Walters; Brandon and Braxton Welch, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Dylan Kay and Rylee Lynn Stinson, Gillette, Wyoming; and five great-great grandchildren, Crue, Creed & Bobbi Mechelle Shortt, and Cash & Cannon Sides, all of Walters; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Robert Felix, Edmond, two step-sons and their wives and children, Craig and Joy Carman, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Clark and Cecile Carman, Dallas, Texas; and 5 step-grandchildren, Andrew, Midwest City, Angela and Tarquin, Victoria, TX and Amanda and Danny, Fort Worth, TX, Brent and Chad Brogan and April Kelly, New Orleans; and Haley and Anna Felix, Edmond, five great-grandchildren, Elijah and Reuben, Victoria, TX, Aidan, Daniela and Aliah, Fort Worth, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Aurelia was preceded in death by her first husband, Maynard Knox, her parents, J.R. and Matilda Parkey, six brothers, Ed, Carl, Seth, Joe, Fred and Wade Parkey and four sisters, Georgia Doss, Marie Cooper, Sue Clingman and Oveta Burke.
