Wanda Faye Parrish was born to Owen Willis and Eugenia Tipton (Blair) Sellers on April 22, 1932, in Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on February 6, 2014 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 15 days. Faye attended Plain View, a one room school house, until it burned and then transferred to Prospect School. Her family had to move off the farm so they packed up, moved to Lawton, and as they pulled into town on December 7, 1941, President Roosevelt was announcing the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Her home in Lawton was the first time she was able to enjoy indoor plumbing. She attended Lawton School and then Western Heights in Oklahoma City before finishing 5th -12th grades in Duncan, OK. Faye spent her young adult years in Walters raising her three sons. While here, she owned and operated the Country Kitchen. She was active in the Dahlia Garden Club, Jaycee Janes, Jaycee Men's Club, Lioness Club, Walters Alumni and Oklahoma Chrysanthemum Society. She was a state champion Flower arranger for two years in the 1960's and won125 awards for her floral designing. She was a member of the Walters First Baptist Church and was baptized with her two older sons. As an adult Faye attended a business and design school in Denver, CO. She returned to Lawton and worked for Ramon's Flowers and Gifts before moving to Oklahoma City at age 44. She worked for Han Cook Funeral Home and Flowers and later worked for Trochtas Flowers, designing 2500 weddings and half that many parties. She was able to decorate many lovely homes on the north side of Oklahoma City, making numerous friends. For a short time she owned and operated Faye's Flower Shop then retired to Duncan and later on to Walters to be near her family and friends. Faye was featured twice in the Oklahoma Home and Garden Magazine for work done in Nichol's Hills homes. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Roland Parrish; 2 sisters, Tomy Jo Wilson and Jean Reid. She is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Max Parrish, Jr. and Mary of Walters, Tommy Parrish an LaDonna of Holiday, TX; 5 grandchildren, Crystal Keys of Indiahoma, Lindsey Rainey of Lawton, Carlton Parrish of Lawton, Stephanie Parrish of Dallas, Kody Powers and Jadan Parrish of Holiday, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Paisley and Lyla Keys of Indiahoma; a sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and John Cottrell of Denver, CO; a special cousin, Billie Kathryn Tenison; 2 special high school friends, Fluff Smith and Renee Schlein both of Duncan; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
