Buddy Joe Hooper was born to Cicero Thornton and Nancy Ann (Wilson) Hooper on October 11, 1932 east of Randlett, OK in the Taylor Store Community and departed this life in Moore, OK on February 3, 2014 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 23 days. Buddy grew up in the Taylor Store Community, attending Taylor and Temple Schools. He married Geneva Mae (Grubbs) on February 11, 1966, making their home in Temple. The family eventually moved their home southwest of town. Buddy Joe has farmed all his life. He has also worked in the cutting department at the Haggar slacks factory, in pump assembly for Halliburton and did road maintenance for Cotton County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Temple and also served on the Temple Cemetery Board. He had enjoyed taking part in the senior citizens center, and loved playing dominoes, cards and spending time with his family. Buddy was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Ruby Brewer, Marvin Hooper, Pauline Miner and Aline Wilkerson. He was also preceded by a son-in-law, Bill Carter. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Hooper of Sun City Center, FL; a sister, Pegge Dennler of Glastonbury, CT; a brother, Sherral Ray Hooper of New Mexico; 5 children and spouses, Cheryl and Cecil Drabek of Yukon, OK, David Brown of Temple, OK, Donna Edwards and Ernest of Moore, OK, Carolyn Carter of Wichita Falls, TX, Bryan Hooper and Mary Ruth of Apollo Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Drabek of Monticello, IA, Amanda Drabek of Longview, TX, Mylinda McClure of Edmond, OK, Michael Brown and wife Lorrie of Temple, OK, Laurie Bainum and husband Barry of New Castle, OK, Christina Edwards of Moore, OK, Ryan Carter and Kerri Carter both of Wichita Falls, TX, Emerson Hooper and Cora Hooper both of Apollo Beach, FL; 2 great grandchildren, Ayden McClure and Braylan Bainum; other relatives and many friends. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Buddy Joe Hooper was the definition of a man. His faith was unshakable, his humor witty, and his heart was always full of love. Words cannot describe how much he meant to us, and his example impacted our lives. Today we mourn our loss, but we celebrate his victory. Today he is dancing with Jesus and reconnecting with loved ones that have gone before him. So until we meet again, beloved, keep the Heavens laughing, enjoy your beautiful green pastures and watch over all of us down here. We love you.
