Anita June Sanders

Anita June Sanders was born to Mildred Louise (Gaines) and Norville Floyd Sanders on February 7, 1936 at Temple, OK, and died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, January 17, 2014, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 10 days. Ms. Sanders attended Walters High School, graduating in the Class of 1954. She was a lifelong resident of Walters. After graduation she started her career working at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in the Nursery/Delivery department. After a year she changed her profession and became a Dental Assistant to Dr. Rodney Worthen for ten years. In 1966 she began a career with the Department of Defense, at Fort Sill, OK. Working as a DOD dental assistant she was selected and accepted for the DOD pilot class of Dental Therapist Program. She continued her career at Fort Sill until retiring in May 1993 to care for her Mother. Anita was saved at an early age in Marlow, OK and helped sell bricks to build a new First Baptist Church building in Marlow. She was active in her Walters First Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher for many years before she became too ill to attend church services, but stayed active in contributing to help build the new First Baptist Church in Walters. She was a gourmet cook, preparing dishes for the church after she was unable to attend services. Most of the children in the neighborhood stopped by to visit and see what kind of treat she had made for them. She also had the privilege of helping them pull their teeth and make sure they were brushing them correctly. She loved cooking and preparing Hank's buddies brown sack lunches and had prepared hot dinner meals for them after a long days hunt, as well as, cleaning their game birds before their long drive to their homes. Anita was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Treva Lorene Sanders. Survivors include her sister Jurretta Hauser and husband Hank; a nephew Hank Hauser III, of Los Angeles, CA and her special niece Paula Hauser, of San Diego, CA.
