Vilma Corene (Duggan) Brown was born to Willis Quail and Lois Lorene (White) Duggan on January 22, 1929 at Abernathy, TX and departed this life at Walters, OK on January 6, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 15 days. Vilma grew up at Abernathy, TX, until the age of 15 when the family moved to Hereford, TX. She graduated from high school at Hereford and went on to complete Business College at Amarillo, TX. She married Paul James Brown on December 16, 1949 at Clovis, NM and to the union 8 children were born. The couple began raising their family at Lawton before moving to Hereford, TX for a year and a half. They eventually settled in Walters and upon completion of their new home moved to their farm northeast of town. Vilma was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Walters. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crocheting, doing embroidery, taking care of kids and loved family get togethers. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Mary Laraine; and a granddaughter, Leah Brown. Survivors include her husband, Paul, of the home; 7 children and spouses, Paula Davis of Melissa, TX, Cecilia and John Cunningham of Bath, Ontario, Canada, Cindy Kay and Russell Hoodenpyle of Duncan, OK, Gail and Walter Soper of Walters, Clark and Lynn Brown of Lawton, Philip Brown of Rogers, AR, William and Becky Brown of Grand Prairie, TX; a brother, Willis Roy Duggan of Purcell, OK; 2 sisters, Frances Suttle of Hereford, TX and Orene Smith of Mansfield, TX; 20 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
